Ah Haaaa...It's my turn!

Well....Kathy is quite the blogger! But I haven't had the opportunity to display my skills. Our adoption process is quite a facinating topic to blog about, however I leave that to Kathy. One of my true passions is LANDSCAPING! It's true...I can't wait to be a dad, but in the mean time I'll be sharing some of my expertise and exitement on landscaping.

The spring and fall are the times to work on lanscaping projects. We generally leave the spring to adding structures and hardscapes and the fall to working on the grass, trees, and shrubs. This past spring Kathy and I built a deck and stacked stone around our landscape beds. Over the next few weeks I'll hopefully be updating our progress on what we have accomplished this fall.

Oh yeah....that's my wife with the saw...this is the final product from the spring! She's got skills!

So, since the next week or so is supposed to be in the mid 80's, it's time to overseed with fescue, aerate, and fertilize. That's on tap for this weekend, but before we aerate, fertilize, and seed, we are adding a new landscape bed down our fence. I gotta admit...I couldn't do it without Kathy! She is AWESOME when it comes to getting down to the dirty work.
This afternoon I stopped by the nursery and filled up my truck with 2 cubic yards of compost (that's like 20 wheel barrows full). Kathy unloaded the WHOLE thing and kept bringing wheel barrows while I tilled it in. Here are the before and after photos.

The second photo is a little dark as we finished about 8pm and it was getting dark.

This is me and the tiller. Next step....a birchwood tree and some shrubs to finish it off...So stay tuned!

I dedicate my first post to my wife! Thanks Kathy! You are the best and I have way more fun with you helping!

Until next time!

  1. Welcome to Blogland, Brian! What a very sweet ode to your wonderful wife...

And whenever you get done landscaping your yard, you are more than welcome to come to our place. Yard work is something that we tolerate, but not something we enjoy.... Sure wish we did though!

  4. Brian and Kathy, Janice hooked me up to your blog! I am very impressed, with your thoughts, documentation, photos, landscaping skills etc.
I am praying for you. I think that you should capture the prayer requests in a smalll sidebar that can be shown with every blog. I know nothing about this blogging, but it seems that it could happen. The more prayer partners the better! God Bless You!
