So Surreal...the first Mother's Day

It seems so surreal that I am holding this precious one in my arms today.  I think the wait was so long that sometimes it is hard to believe that she is finally here, but oh, how thankful I am that she is part of my life.  Being a mom is the most joyous yet difficult, energizing yet exhausting, fun yet maddening, natural yet terrifying adventure of which I have ever been a part.   While it all still feels very new, I also can't imagine what life before her was like.

So thankful for the blessing that is Mikayla!

Happy Mother's Day!

We are so very thankful for our wonderful mothers.  What a new joy it is to have our mothers (and fathers, too) watch us parent!

Our Community

Today I have done quite a bit of reflecting on our adoption journey.  This isn't a journey that can be done alone, and one of the few things that I can say about our journey is that we have not walked alone.  We are surrounded by a huge community that has supported us from Day 1.  From our family and friends whose faces we have actually seen, and from friends that we have only "met" virtually, we have drawn strength throughout this marathon.  It has been almost two years since we started this process, and thankfully, those people who surround us haven't grown weary, even when Brian and I have!  We are continually amazed daily by people who we discover are following our journey.  It is impossible to put in words how much the hugs, cheers, tears, phone calls, emails, and prayers have strengthened us.  The magnitude with which you all have loved us along the way blows me away and touches my heart.
Knowing how much you all have stood beside us through the highs and the lows, I can say with confidence that there will be shouts of joy and dancing in the streets from all over God's creation when this little one is home with us forever, AMEN?!?
So today, I am especially grateful for the people who are standing and walking beside us.  Thank you.  We love you and appreciate you more than you could ever know.
